I passed my HGV Class 2 test in 1987 while serving in the Army (RAOC, now part of the RLC). I drove an old Bedford TK (tenny) for several years around Germany while on Exercise.

When I left the forces, I drove for Homeworhy for a few years. Using a wagon and drag, I, along with a second man delivered their range of household furniture to both retail outlets and private homes throughout the UK.

In 1993, having small children at home, I decided on a career change and enrolled in Ripon & York St.John University and undertook a course in health studies. I eventually became an Emergency Medical Technician and started my own business in 1996. This business involved me utilising not only my clinical skills but also my teaching skills. I had contracts which led me to most parts of the UK as well as other parts of the world. As a result, I have a good knowledge of the UK road network. Nevertheless, after more than 20 years, I wanted a change again.

So I went back to HGV driving in December 2015.Things had moved on since I last did this sort of thing. Not only are there Digi cards and CPC, there was also the fact that a few years previously, I had let my HGV lapse. I was pleased to discover that to regain it, all was that needed was a medical.

Since getting back on the road, I have joined an agency (or two) and have experience with car transporters (pulling a spec), curtain siders both hand balling and palletised loads, wagon and drags (with box and trailer changes), tramping as well as travelling to destinations all over the UK and Ireland.

I am looking for temporary work or a permanent contract with either C, C+E (102) or C+E if someone is willing to help me get through my full C+E licence (getting rid of the 102 restriction). Ideally, I will be tramping, European work would also be welcomed.

I have a clean licence.
